5 Solo Female Travel Ideas
For women who work full-time and also care for their kids, feeling stressed and overwhelmed is nothing new. There’s always a long list of responsibilities that await – from carpools, lunches and monitoring homework to meetings and everyday work tasks. Many women want to recharge with a bit of alone time, making a solo trip the perfect excuse to get away.
For overworked women who want a break, here are five interesting destinations to visit to enjoy a much-needed escape:

5 Solo Female Travel Destination Ideas

1. Boston

With a rich history and an extremely low crime rate, Boston is a great place for solo female travelers looking for an educational travel experience. It is one of the most interesting cities in the U.S. that regularly hosts a number of events that celebrate the past and offer the chance to learn about confrontations that lead to the American Revolution.
Boston also offers plenty of places to explore while walking around, with exceptional seafood restaurants available right on the water. Exploring the location by food makes it easy to view the different neighborhoods, which include Back Bay, Beacon Hill, and the Italian North End.
Tip: Although Boston is a very safe place to visit, it’s still important to avoid showing off your jewelry or expensive camera while sight-seeing to avoid theft.

2. Pacific Coast

If you wish to experience the proverbial wind in your hair, consider taking a Pacific Coast road trip. Just hop into your car, fasten your seat belt and get ready to enjoy the unparalleled views of the ocean.
The Pacific Coast has temperatures that settle around 70 degrees in each season of the year.
The road trip offers a wide variety of places to visit and things to do, so it will require some extra planning. Opt for staying in budget-friendly hostels or on campgrounds during the trip to avoid splurging on five-star hotels that you may not be spending much time in.
As you glide along the coast, consider stopping in San Diego, Los Angeles, San Luis Obispo, and Santa Cruz. Santa Cruz is a great place to explore the boardwalk and ride roller coasters whereas San Luis Obispo is the perfect place to take a tour of Hearst Castle or visit the San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden.
Tip: The highway is full of sharp curves and high cliffs without guardrails. Adjusting to road conditions may mean that you have to drive slower at times. This will not only keep you safe but also allow you to take in the beautiful coastal scenery.

3. Hawaii

Give yourself the much-needed TLC that you deserve with the most romantic of all destinations – Hawaii. You don’t need to be on a honeymoon to enjoy all that the islands have to offer. In fact, as a solo traveler, you will have more time to embark on adventures such as kayaking on Kayak Wailua River or hiking through lush rainforests.
For working moms who don’t have itchy feet, cities such as Honolulu provide all the benefits of civilization. Enjoy the local cuisine, relax in one of numerous bars or simply divide your time between sleeping and swimming.
In Hawaii, you can explore the indigenous culture, tradition, and history. Arm yourself with the aloha spirit and do not forget to attend a luau. The time you spend in Hawaii will take you far away from your overworked mom everyday routine.
Tip: Women who decide to travel alone to the island should avoid sharing too much of their personal information with others and also avoid non-tourist areas at night.

4. San Francisco

There are people in this world who cannot stop moving. If you have relentless energy, this incredible city will quench your thirst for adventure. Take a ride on a cable car or visit Ghirardelli Square to see the sea lions sunbathing.
In San Francisco, you can dine over dumplings at Yank Sing and have a picnic in Presidio Park. A night tour at Alcatraz Island is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for a working mom. The city also welcomes visitors to take a bike ride across the Golden Gate Bridge or do a bit of shopping at Haight-Ashbury. If you want to see where television shows and movies were filmed, stop at the Painted Ladies to view the iconic houses that are a staple in San Francisco.
Tip: As a solo female traveler, remember to take safety precautions that include limiting your alcohol consumption and avoid accepting food or beverages from strangers.

5. Savannah

A small-town feel of Savannah, Georgia, blends in perfectly with all the perks of a much bigger city. This historic place offers an abundance of natural beauty and rich culture for those who want to visit art galleries or explore dozens of attractions in a picturesque setting.
The city of Savannah is known for its Southern hospitality and is a great place to dine at over 100 restaurants in the Historic District. Some of the activities that overworked moms will enjoy include viewing the stunning architecture at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist or getting a glimpse of the photo collection at Jepson Center for the Arts.
Both quirky and sophisticated, Savannah will make a perfect weekend getaway for all types of working moms. From binge-reading intellectuals to classy fashionable girls, everyone will find places and activities in Savannah that suit their individual taste.
Tip: The streets of Savannah are very safe during the day. However, you should be more cautious at night and avoid poorly lit areas along the Historic District.
Overworked moms are in need of a vacation to escape the stresses of their everyday lives. A solo trip is a perfect opportunity for busy women to reenergize and enjoy new experiences. If you’re a working mother, the adventure of traveling alone will not only broaden your views but also give you a new found appreciation for your life. You’ll be able to see the places you’ve never seen before and spend some much needed time alone, while at the same time realizing that there really is no place like home.
