Do you ever feel like you are always busy? You feel burnt out, unhappy and unfulfilled with barely enough time to make your dreams happen. Maybe you feel haunted about balancing it all and you feel like there’s more for you out there but you have to figure out how to take back your time the guilt-free way.
If feeling overwhelmed with business sounds familiar, you are going to love this episode with my guest Christy Wright.
I’ve heard Christy many many times on the Ramsey Show with Dave Ramsey and was thrilled to learn about her new book called Take Back Your Time and to ask her questions about life balance. She’s also a busy mom and career woman and even though both of us are in the trenches with little kids and trying to make it all work, we are learning every single day and I hope you find these lessons today helpful.
Make sure you stay until the very end for Christy’s final word of wisdom. I know I needed to hear that today and I think you do too.
Sit back, take a deep breath and enjoy this episode. It brought me so much clarity hearing Christy and I know it will for you too.

My Top 3 Tips From Christy’s Time Management Strategies
In our quest for balance, we think that the path to that is just being more productive. And so we actually put more pressure on ourselves. We wake up early, we multitask, we are so efficient, so productive, stay up late. And what happens is we’re just exhausted! We don’t feel any more balanced. We don’t feel like we’re doing any better.
Tip #1: Doing The Right Things At The Right Time
Life balance is not doing everything for an equal amount of time. It’s about doing the right things at the right time, and doing what matters.
When you do the right things at the right time, you will actually feel that sense of balance that you’ve been looking for, but it didn’t come from doing everything. It didn’t come from working harder and faster. It came from actually doing just the right things.
Tip #2: You Get To Decide What’s Right For You
A way to ask yourself this in a really simple conversational way would be “What’s right, right now?” Another way to say this is “What is important right now?”.
When you take away all the other variables and you just ask yourself this one question “what’s right, right now?”, you get a very different answer than if you ask yourself “what is good and fun and interesting?”. That is the thing that you want to be focusing on.
Tip #3: Some Things Are More Important Than Others
Until we realize that some things are more important than others, then we are always going to be stressed and anxious. Because when push comes to shove and two things need us, like they always do, we don’t know how to make decisions. And so we just try to multitask to do it all at the same time.
Your freedom is going to come from prioritizing and acknowledging that there are some things that are more important than other things.
“If we’re not careful, we will plow through our to-do list. We will run so fast to get to all the commitments on our calendar. And at the end of the day, we’re exhausted and out of balance, but it was simply because we did not do the right things.” – Christy Wright
Christy’s Final Words of Wisdom
The message that I think is more important than anything about our time is that you are doing a good job. You’re doing a good job. You’re already doing a good job. We’re going to build on that foundation.

But I believe this broken record in the back of your mind that ‘you’re failing’ is a lie. It’s not true at all. And it’s stealing your joy and your ability to experience and enjoy the moment that you’re in.
So, I want to set you free. You are doing a good job and embrace that and live from that truth. And then we’ll figure out what balance looks like from there.
