What If I Fail? How to Overcome Fear of Failure as a New Entrepreneur

Don’t know how to overcome fear of failure? Ever wondered what you’d do if no one signed up for your coaching services? You’re not alone. When I started my coaching journey, I was terrified of not attracting enough clients. But what I discovered was that failure isn’t the end; it’s the beginning of growth. Today, I’ll share three powerful lessons to help you overcome the fear of failure, attract clients, and build a coaching business you’re proud of.

Lesson 1: Overcome Fear of Failure By Redefining Failure as Learning

  • Key Point: Every “failure” is feedback.
  • Anna’s Example:
    • Closing my membership site before I was pregnant. It wasn’t growing. I needed to redesign a much better membership and relaunch it with everything I learned in later years.
    • Launching a course and no one buying it! I learned from this failure that I was creating a course for me and not my audience.
  • Action Step: Journal after every challenge—ask, “What can I learn? How can I improve?” You can only fail if you quit.
  • Remember, successful businesses are built on trial and error. It’s about progress, not perfection.

Lesson 2: Develop a Client Acquisition Plan

  • Key Point: A clear, diversified strategy is essential for attracting clients.
  • Details: It is very important to create a marketing plan. How will people find you? How will you build trust with them? How will you grow your email list because it can take at least 7 times of seeing your offer before a client will buy. This is why I post a weekly podcast.
    • Important: How can you get in front of an audience? Just posting on social media won’t always work. Creating content is how you will engage an audience. Who already has the audience right now? Look into speaking events, Facebook groups. Podcast interviews and other people’s instagram accounts. You have to do outreach and reach out to 5-10 people per day if you aren’t running ads.
  • Action Step: Create a weekly schedule for these outreach activities.
  • You don’t need to be everywhere, but you do need to show up consistently where your ideal clients are.

Lesson 3: Offer Value Upfront with Free Consultations

  • Key Point: Free consultations can establish trust and showcase your expertise. Don’t try to sell right away. Include free calls and free webinars in your marketing strategy. That is my main strategy for 2025. Come to my webinars LIVE. I will be doing a lot of them. My goal for this podcast is the same, provide value up front.
  • Details: On your sales calls, provide a recommendation. Give them an overview of your system. Everyone who does a sales call with me or comes to my live webinar will get value no matter what, even if they don’t join my program.
  • Action Step: Develop a script for your free consultations to guide the conversation.
  • People invest in what they trust. A free consultation is your chance to build that trust and create a lasting impression.
