Having been featured as the creator of one of Forbes 35 Most Influential Career Sites, one of the frequent questions I get is, “Anna, how do I know if I’m ready to (insert your dream here)” “And am I really good enough to make my dream happen?”

I used to be really worried and scared too while stuck and overwhelmed at work. But, I had a dream of making a change but just wasn’t exactly sure what that looked like.

At the time, I was doing the jobs of 4 other people and I was miserable walking into work. I had little time and no one was hiring during the recession. On top of that my husband and I were drowning in debt and I was having a lot of health challenges trying to become a mom.

Here’s how to know if you are ready:

What I discovered is that the way to become ready to make your dream career or business happen is by making a commitment. You actually don’t have to DO anything, yet. You just have to COMMIT to your goal and you can do that right now.

Are you ready to make a commitment to launch your dream career? Take out a piece of paper and write down your commitment. Tell a friend what you are going to do. Share with us in the Classy Career Girl Network FB group. When you make a commitment to make your goals happen, you are READY.

Think you don’t have enough time? You don’t need a lot of time to make your dream career happen. All you need is 15 minutes per day or one hour per week. I made a career change and found my dream job while working a full time job and getting my MBA at night! Then, I launched my business with a baby on my lap.

IT IS possible to launch your dream career if you commit to identifying the ideal career you were born to do. You will be more successful when you find your ideal career path and when you are working in a career you are excited and passionate about. There is absolutely NOTHING to be scared about when you are doing the career you were born to do.

Whatever industry you are in you CAN make a career change.

It doesn’t matter if you are advanced with a lot of experience or just getting started.

You also don’t need a lot of money. There are plenty of free ways to launch a dream career or business.

You can also find a fulfilling and rewarding career in a tough job market. There are so many companies hiring right now even during the pandemic.

If you want to start a business, so many businesses are thriving right now. It’s an excellent time to become an entrepreneur if you are focused on solving current problems your market has.

No matter what your background or industry, even if you don’t think you are an expert or feel like you aren’t ready yet, just make the commitment today and you’re ready.
